In front of an audience of more than 420 guests, Liyan was among the outstanding Western Australian small business winners celebrated at the 32nd Belmont & Western Australian Small Business Awards on Wednesday, 29 October 2025. The prestigious Night of Stars event, held in the grand ballroom of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, celebrated excellence in small business and community achievement. The evening shone a spotlight on the remarkable success of local entrepreneurs while celebrating the resilience, innovation, and dedication that continue to drive Western Australia's vibrant small business community.

Liyan is an Indigenous owned Australian lifestyle brand founded by Aboriginal artist Simone Atkinson. The company creates eco-friendly travel, gym, and beach towels that combine sustainability, movement, and cultural storytelling. Each towel features original Indigenous artwork and is crafted using recycled materials, with up to 20 plastic bottles repurposed in every piece. Through its products, Liyan promotes wellbeing, environmental awareness, and a celebration of First Nations culture, offering both retail and custom designed options for individuals, organisations, and businesses.

A Night to Remember

The official welcome was delivered by City of Belmont Mayor Robert Rossi, joined by Member for Belmont Cassie Rowe MLA and Belmont BEC Patron Louise Percy, who co-hosted the evening as MCs. Guests were also treated to a captivating performance by Kaylene Taylor, following a heartfelt Welcome to Country delivered by Dadajaal, Daniel Garlett.

A highlight of the night was the Designer Fashion Showcase, celebrating Western Australian creativity and style. The runway came alive with stunning collections from Bird the Label, Deja vu Boutique, FuMuso for Rag PopUp, Gigi La Vie, Kaarli, Kirrikin, Liyan, Miss Scarlett, Silverstar Designs, Sol of Eos and Style by Rachel Metropolis with models from Metro Agency bringing each design to life. The showcase captured the spirit of local innovation and craftsmanship, delighting guests with a vibrant display of artistry and fashion excellence.
